Fix Startup Issues in Microsoft Windows XP using Windows Startup Disk

Is your Windows XP operating system based computer not booting up properly, even if the hardware components power up properly? The problem cannot be related to the operating system itself. In such cases, you need to start the troubleshooting expedition, which involves getting into operating system, finding out the exact issues, and then resolving it. When it happens, your system does not boot up and you can not get into it. This behavior prevents you from accessing hard drive partitions and stored data. It leads to critical partition loss situations and require partition recovery software to fix it.

One of the most common methods to troubleshoot Windows XP start errors is to use a Windows startup disk. Windows startup disk is a floppy that can help you fix the problem that are caused when either the files that are used by Windows operating system to boot up or startup record for active Windows partition have got damaged.

You can easily create a Startup disk by using a working Windows XP computer. For this purpose, the computer must be similarly configured. To do so, insert the floppy disk in drive and open My Computer. Right-click the icon of floppy disk and choose Format option from context menu. When Format dialog box appears, leave all default settings intact and click Start button. After successful completion of format operation, click Format dialog box and return of the My Computer window. Access root directory by double-clicking the 'C' drive icon, and copy the below mentioned files to floppy disk:

Ntdetect.com

NTLDR

Boot.ini

After creating the Windows startup disk, insert the floppy in floppy drive of affected Windows computer and reboot your system using Ctrl + Alt + Delete. When you start your system using startup disk, it bypasses boot files and active partition.

In case you do not have a Windows computer with similar configuration, it is not possible to create Windows startup disk. In such situations, you need to format the hard drive and reinstall operating system to fix the problem. However, it removes all the data from hard drive and put you in need of windows data recovery.

Recovery is possible using Windows partition recovery software. These applications recover partition in safe way with read-only and non-destructive conduct. The applications use high-end scanning techniques to ensure absolute recovery.

StellarPhoenix Windows Data Recovery is a powerful, yet easy to use application to recover lost Windows partitions. The software is designed for Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000. It supports recovery of NTFS, NFTS5, FAT32, VFAT, FAT16, and FAT12 file system partitions.

How to Solve Stop Error Message at Windows XP startup

Author: kmadhav

A device driver (also known as software driver) is a computer program that allows higher level computer programs to communicate with a hardware component. To interact with the hardware component, the device uses communications subsystem or computer bus. Few main reasons that result in the corruption of device drivers are user error, malicious software like virus and more. In most cases, the outcome for a corrupted driver results in a STOP error message. After you encounter the STOP error message, you may not be able to boot the system. Moreover, the data stored in the hard drive becomes inaccessible. In such situations, you need to recover your data from the latest backup. But, if you have not maintained any backup or the backup fails to deliver the required data, then you need to use advanced Data Recovery Software.

When you attempt to boot a Windows XP based computer, you receive the below error message:

“STOP: (parameter 1, parameter 2, parameter 3, parameter 4) SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED”

You encounter the same error message each time you attempt to start your computer system. After the above error message appears, the data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible.

Cause:

The primary reason for the occurrence of the above error message is device driver corruption.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error and access the data, you should firstly remove the additional hardware attached to the computer. After doing so, you need to use the Windows XP operating system disk to view all the contents of Windows folder named drivers (‘%windows%system32drivers’). If you find any files such as TDSS????.sys or TDSS????.DLL, you need to remove them and restart the system.

However, if you receive the same error message when you restart your system, you need to go for clean Windows reinstall. A clean reinstall of the operating system will erase all the data saved in hard drive. To completely recover and restore the lost data, you need to use efficient Data Recovery tools.

These Data Recovery tools incorporate powerful scanning methods to provide comprehensive recovery of lost data. Such utilities provide simple user interface with advanced features for instant or in-depth recovery.

Windows Data Recovery is the most influential Data Recovery Software. It provides precise recovery of lost, deleted and inaccessible data. It can even recover data from corrupted, deleted or formatted partitions and volumes. It is compatible with FAT16, FAT32, vFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. It supports Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000.

Author: Daisy

An easy way to fix Windows Vista startup problems is to run 'Startup Repair'. When Windows Vista fails at startup, it immediately launches 'Startup Repair', which then analyzes the startup logs and runs a series of diagnostic tests to determine the reason of failure. It looks for a range of startup problems, including corrupt disk metadata, incompatible or damaged device drivers, and lost or damaged startup configuration files. However, if Windows fails to start because of some problems that it cannot fix, 'Startup Repair' reports errors. These errors can give you a brief idea about procedures needed to be followed to Recover Windows Partition data. Following is an example that illustrates a similar type of situation.

Suppose you use a Windows Vista computer that unexpectedly stops working. You try to boot the computer, 'Startup Repair' starts but cannot complete operations. Additionally, it shows the below or similar error report about the failure:

StartupRepair V2
Problem Signature 1: AutoFailover
Problem Signature 2: Signature1
Problem Signature 3: Signature2
Problem Signature 4: Signature3
Problem Signature 5: CorruptFile
Problem Signature 6: CorruptFile
Problem Signature 7: Signature4
Problem Signature 8: Signature5
Problem Signature 9: SystemRestore
Problem Signature 10: 0
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: Locale ID

This error report suggests 'Startup Repair' has been unable to fix Windows corruption.

Resolution

You can try the below mentioned solutions to solve the described problem:

Try to start the computer in Safe Mode, and select a restore point that was created before the problem started occurring.
If Windows Safe Mode doesn't work, try booting the computer from Windows install disc and then run operations like, 'Startup Repair', 'System Restore', etc.
Try removing your hard drive and attach it as a slave to a working computer. If this works, you can salvage and backup all the data from Windows partitions. Alternatively, you can reinstall Windows and use your last data backup or a Windows Partition Recovery utility to extract lost data. You can Recover Windows Partition data by specialized utilities that can scan and restore all the lost or deleted files and folders.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is a feature-rich utility that recovers and restores lost data by running powerful, yet safe, scanning algorithms. This Windows Partition Recovery software is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000. The software incorporates advanced recovery features like, disk cloning, disk imaging, RAW file recovery, and more.

Vista Crashes – How Do I Stop Vista Crashing Problems?

Author: Jim Marshall

If you’re one of the intrepid souls who migrated to Vista early on, you surely would have heard about – or experienced yourself - the frequent crashes that plagued users of the new operating system. It was a concern that got a lot of media flak, consequently resulting in a lukewarm reception of Vista – as most of the targeted companies opted to stay with the more stable XP rather than expose their businesses to the Vista crashes.

Those early crashes were traced to incompatible drivers that were shipped with Vista, or programs that weren’t designed for the new OS, or some bugs in the operating system itself. It seems that hardware manufacturers were not able to provide updated drivers and the drivers included by Microsoft behaved unpredictably - some drivers didn’t work at all while others messed up the registry. OS bugs and apps problems that also caused the dreadful black screens of death (BSODs) were traced to registry problems, too. Some of the main issues were resolved when service packs and drivers were released, but up to now, there are still instances when Vista freezes or crashes for no apparent reason.

As experience have indicated registry issues, it is quite reasonable to look into the registry for causes of such failures. Hardware and software installations or removal leave footprints in the registry that accumulate over time. While some of the entries left behind are harmless by themselves, there are occasions when these unnecessary registry values interfere with normal flow of the operating system.

Window’s registry is the database where important data about the computer are found. Changes made to the system such as user and program settings are stored in the registry, and it acts as the central source of data for smooth PC operations. Thus, it is also the main component to tweak when things go wrong. Consequently, one of the first advices given by experts whenever system crashes occur – aside from installing the latest updates from Microsoft – is to have the registry cleaned. This is because there have been numerous cases wherein Vista freezes or crashes were attributed to the excess baggage being kept in the registry.

It is wise to heed experts’ advice and clean the registry of clutter – removing useless keys and values and restoring needed ones which were removed unintentionally or not. Tweaking the registry requires extensive knowledge of the PC structure and it is not a task for the uninitiated. Fortunately, there are many programs out there that do the job quite well. It is just a matter of selecting a reliable tool, preferably one that has been tested by experts.

What Is A Boot Disk (Startup Disk) Or Windows Installation Disc And Why Would I Need One? What If I Don't Have A Boot Disc?

Author: Tom Parks

What is a boot disk (startup disk) or Windows installation disc and why would I need one? What if i don't have one?

A boot disk (sometimes called a startup disk) is a type of removable media, such as a floppy disk or a CD, that contains startup files that your computer can use to start Windows.

The startup files are also stored on your computer's hard disk, but if those startup files become damaged, you can use the files on a boot disk to start Windows.

In earlier operating systems that used the FAT or FAT32 file systems, such as Windows 95 and Windows 98, a boot disk was especially useful because it allowed a person to access files on a hard disk even if Windows was unable to start. This ability also represented a security risk, because anyone with a boot disk and access to the computer could start the computer and access any file. Hard disks formatted with NTFS have built-in security features that prevent using a boot disk to access files.

The Windows installation disc contains the files necessary to start Windows, so it is itself a boot disk. If a problem is preventing Windows from starting, you can use the installation CD to start Windows. The installation CD also contains Startup Repair, which you can use to repair Windows if a problem prevents it from starting correctly. Startup Repair can automatically fix many of the problems that in the past required a boot disk to fix.

If you do not have a Windows Installation Disc because your OS was pre-installed by manufacturer, check this article on how you can create a boot disc

How to Make Your Windows XP Computer Faster in No Time?

Author: Emma Adrian

Have you been experiencing slow windows XP performance so bad your about ready to toss the whole thing out the window? Have errors begun popping up more and more often causing programs to not work properly or stop working all together.

You may even be experiencing computer crashed and frozen screens. Whatever the issue there is a answer that in most cases causes all of these problems, but with the right software can be correctly easily. The problem is registry errors.

As you use your computer on a daily basis, you move files, upgrade software, install the latest programs and uninstall old software you no longer use. All of these actions change entries in your computers registry.

These changes will leave behind old or outdated entries, corrupted entries or just a jumbled mess that slows windows right down.

What can you do to get your computers registry working at peak performance again?

The answer you are looking for is in the registry. The registry is where all the setting for your computer are stored and by running a free registry scan you can get rid of all these errors. A registry scanner and a registry cleaner is designed to correctly diagnose any registry entry problems and fix them.

You wouldn't want to go poking around in the registry manually. If you change or delete the wrong entries windows will fail to start again.

Registry cleaning software is the way you want to go. You do not even have to call in a technician to fix your problems, because they would use the same type of program to restore your registry that you can and you can do this in minutes with no computer knowledge.

To fix slow computer startup effectively, I highly recommend you try to use registry repair tool to optimize and protect your computer regularly. You can download the free trial to diagnose your computer for free from now on.
