Windows freezes or stops responding frequently.

Computer freezes at Windows XP startup?
the pc, which is an HP Pavilion a305w, i cleared out the temporary internet files, i restarted it, then when it was starting windows XP it froze, but i restarted it in safe mode it worked, any solution to fixing it so it works in the normal mode?
Windows xp freezes at startup?
I have Toshiba A135-S4527 laptop. Originally it came with Windows Vista but I installed Windows XP on to it about 6 months ago.
All of a sudden, my computer freezes at start up. I can move my cursor but I can’t open anything. I can’t do anything.
It doesn’t even start in the safe mode. It freezes in safe mode too. During startup, when it’s “frozen” it makes this weird noise patter like it’s loading something. The noise is continuous.
What might be the problem? I have some important data files so I don’t want to reinstall the XP. I can’t even get to those files because it freezes on start up. Help!
Computer freezes at Windows XP startup or Post BIOS. Help?!?
My computer lately (been about 1 month now) have begun freezing on the first boot when I turn on my computer. It usually freezes right after I log on to windows, a few seconds after my desktop is loaded up and right before all of my startup programs are loaded. With this, my cursor will be frozen and my computer will not react to cap locks or numlocks when i press them and I would be stuck on my desktop with a frozen cursor. And then usually I would have to restart the computer once to a few more times before the computer can successfully start up without freezing. Sometimes when it freezes, it would freeze right after the Windows XP logo on a black screen.
Sometimes, when it takes me too many times to restart in order for the computer to start up, it will end up loading up the BIOS right after restart. With this, I will simply either save and exit the BIOS to continue to boot to windows. However, most of the times, my computer will just freeze on a blank black screen right after I hit “save changes and exit bios” or “discard changes and exit bios (tried both)” as it would not load to windows. With this, I would have to restart again and once again takes me to the bios screen. I would do the same and it would freeze again after I exit the BIOS. It would only be after a dozen painful tries, it would finally load up windows successfully. With this, I would constantly think twice before shutting down my computer fearing that next day I turn it on, it once again wouldn’t boot.
Anyone got any suggestions how to fix this? The WGA installation wizard began popping up recently whenever my windows starts up where I would have to hit cancel every time. Could this be the cause? Or is it hardware or software cause? Thanks in advance.
Windows XP Freezes at Startup. Please Help!?
So basically, I have a dual boot setup on my PC. Xp and Vista. So, my XP keeps freezing at startup. Sometimes during the login screen, sometimes during the startup sound and the sound keeps skipping, or sometimes not at all. When it doesn’t skip at startup, the machine works fine, but when it does, I have to do a hard restart. It recently became infected with Spyware Protect 2009 and I cleared it out and it has been acting strange since then. Any ideas?
Windows XP freezes at startup often?
I bought an OEM windows xp in 05′ and built the computer then too. I have since then reformatted maybe 4 times, all in the past few months.
It freezes at the splash screen with that loading bar maybe 1-3 times in a row before it boots up. Sometimes it works right away without a problem. I have SP2 and I had SP3 a few times back with same issues on both. Im starting to think it is the CD software microsoft made.
What do you think? The computer runs stable, it freezes only sometimes at start up. It did it on SP2 and SP3 and there are no problems other than that but I know if it freezes enough I will lose data and need to reformat.

To give an update:
I have had this computer for over 5 years and built it myself. I have already reseated everything. Ill look into firmware but it is not a virus because Ive wiped the drive with the thorough install of windows. The PSU was damaged but sent it to newegg and get a replacement so I cant imagine this one is bad too plus it being from Antec, a better psu company.
